FITCH WILDER

FITCH WILDER (they/them) is a coach and artist based in Oakland, CA.

As an artist, Fitch investigates the stories that make us human, mapping systems of pleasure, violence, ritual, and otherness. They reject “specialization culture” in favor of curiousity-driven generalism. In Fitch’s world, the the art object is a living entity that happens inside of us when we are moved by life. To this end, they write essays, plays, poems, posts, and make paintings, photos, videos, banquets–and anything else that strikes their fancy. Storytelling is their primary medium.

Fitch works for the empowerment of all outsiders. They founded their coaching practice Fitch Wilder Creative in 2023 to create a culture of permission–one that empowers us to be who we are, heal from our trauma, and actively build the world of our dreams. They curate and produce EAT BLOODY PUSSY, a queer feminist performance project and *live* zine that provokes artists to make from their base, messy, and softer sources. Fitch was a founding member of the femme spiritual community Moon Church, and founded a sibling community Moon Circle in Oakland, CA. Fitch’s ongoing performance work as their character Shame Daddy investigates the sticky residue of ancestral shaming, playing where past wounds intersect present desire, sexuality, and gender identity.

Fitch studied acting, directing, and original works at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, and video and sculpture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. They received their BA in studio art and gender and sexuality studies from CUNY Hunter College in Spring, 2020. In 2023 they graduated from Martha Beck’s Wayfinder Life Coach Training program.

Fitch is married to the comic/scientist Ashley Wilder. Together they parent two furry feline children, Chips and Rudy, in Oakland, CA.
